Misery Loves Company
Dear Liz,
I heard the news, and I know exactly how you must feel. After 33 years as a newspaper columnist for The New York Post, you’ve been let go and it’s just not any fun at all.
It hurts your feelings, and you’re puzzled because you know you had a following. I can tell you not to take it personally, Ms. Smith, because newspapers are struggling. Like a drowning person, newspaper management is thrashing around looking for a lifeline while taking others down, too. It’s just a crying shame. We’re all sad about the state of newspapers.
Come back to Texas, Liz. Paschal High School would welcome back one of its favorite daughters. We’ll have a margarita, and let’s gossip a little. We’ll help you re-invent yourself.
Can’t wait to hear what your new book is about.
Best,
Joy
