Waiting for That Modeling Contract to Appear
I’m waiting for the modeling agencies to start banging on my door.
I just know after the terrific performance I turned in last weekend all the big New York agencies are going to want to sign this 5-foot 2 3/4-inch and 20 pounds overweight blonde to grace the runways for all the top designers. You see, I have vast experience.
At the Greater Keller Women’s Club style show, I was a model of not one, but four outfits. Yes, this chubette waltzed up and down the run at The Speedway Club wearing the latest in spring fashions from Dillard’s. With hair coiffed by Terrace Retreat’s stable of hair stylists, I wore a robin’s egg-blue dress with a matching jacket, boot-cut jeans with a ruffled shirt, a Ralph Lauren checked trench-style jacket over a pencil skirt and a champagne-colored evening ensemble. I just know I set the world on fire.
I was in good company, too. Style show organizer Dorene Badalamenti had an array of talented “real world” models. Among the other models that day were Keller Mayor Pat McGrail, former club president Emmie Coleman, Charles Yout of the Classic Cafe, Doug Newton of Rocky Top Therapy Center and local actress Hazel Murphy. If you were among the nearly 600 there, you’ll just have to take my word for it, we were somethin’.
The annual event has grown too large to be contained in just the ballroom of The Speedway Club. For the first time, the silent auction was arranged on a totally different floor.
I can’t report on how that went since we very important models were in hair and make-up. So even though I didn’t get to see the display, and I can tell you it surely was a successful day. Jean Manuszak, who co-chaired the event with Vickie Elms, tells me the event raised $100,000.
So while I await the contract I’m positive will arrive at any moment, I can contemplate the dollars the club raised and the good causes it surely will fund. Makes a model happy…but then I never was one of those skinny, no-smile models.

Loved the fashions and real life models…….not everyone is a size “0″! We are always blessed to have so many generous and compassionate folks that participate in this wonderful event. It never ceases to amaze me that so many people are willing to give so much time and effort to raise money for those in need. I love this club and all that support it!!
