Few Seats Remain for Classic Fundraiser

Chef Charles Youts will pair fine wines with his gourmet menu at The Classic Cafe fundraiser for Metroport Meals on Wheels.
Just a few seats remain for Metroport Meals on Wheels’ traditional Wine Benefit Dinner.
The fundraiser is set for Oct. 26 in Roanoke at The Classic Cafe, recently honored with an Award of Excellence from Wine Spectator magazine. Cafe owners Chris and Curtis Wells have hosted for 14 years a gourmet dinner, typically a sell-out. Chef Charles Youts has announced his menu, which will begin with passed hors d’oeuvres and a sparkling wine.
The first course will be a fall harvest salad with a sparkling cidr vinaigrette and persimmons, dried cranberries, toasted walnuts, blue chees crumbles and red onion paired with a Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc. The second course will consist of cream of sherry brie soup with toasated buttery croutons and fresh chives paired with Domaine Chandon Pinot Meunier.
For the main course, Chef Youts has chosen to pair the wine Numananthia Termes with grilled beef tenderloin topped with buttered lump gulf crab and blanketed with golden puff pastry served with an ancho chili béarnaise sauce. Finishing the gourmet dinner will be spiced pumpkin mousse, chocolate truffle and pumpkin seed brittle, matched with an extra dry sparkling wine, Chandon Riche.
Tickets for this evening of fine cuisine are $125 per person.
Established in 1980, Metroport Meals on Wheels delivers meals to shut-ins in northeast Tarrant, southern Denton and eastern Wise counties. Last year, more than 500 volunteers supplied more than 58,000 meals through either home-delivery or senior centers.

Sometimes (rarely) you come across a blog or site that is what it says it is, and this is one of those. I love your site and will be back for more. It’s bookmarked! Jennie Potts
