"50 IS SAXY," a birthday bash and CD release party for Saxophonist, David Carr, Jr., was held July 24th at the Omni Park West Hotel, Dallas. Highlighting the evening was the debut of the commemorative 30' X 40' painting, "Hot", by artist Suzy Moritz whose gallery of art was showcased throughout the evening. As a party favor, all the guests received David's newest CD, "Half A C Note," just released that evening.

The 2010 Pro Players Golf Classic held their Light The Way benefit in June at the Marriott Solona. The event, hosted by Roger Staubach helped raise money for Bryce Saldi and his family. The event featured a Giving Tree, a live tree, where guests hung candle lanterns donated in Bryce's honor. The tree will be planted on the grounds of Bryce's alma mater, Carroll Senior High School.

On Thursday, June 17, The Greater Keller Women’s Club (GKWC) received the President’s Volunteer Service Award, honoring their commitment and many hours of service to the local community. The organization became an official certifying organization for the Presidents Volunteer Service Award in August 2009. The President’s Volunteer Service Award recognizes individuals, families, and groups that have achieved a certain standard—measured by the number of hours of service over a 12-month period or cumulative hours earned over the course of a lifetime.

Westlake Gallery Night
Westlake Academy Foundation’s Gallery Night “The Romance of Italy,” held Feb. 26 at the Marriott Solana, set records in number of attendees and dollars raised. The event more than doubled last year’s fundraising total, bringing in over $240,000 with a record in sponsorships (nearly $70,000) and a record attendance of 285. This annual event raises funds and awareness to benefit the students at Westlake Academy, one of only six schools in the United States to offer the prestigious, rigorous International Baccalaureate program for K-12.

Puttin' on the Pink
The theme for this year’s Puttin’ on the Pink luncheon was “Girl Talk: Tell a Friend, Save a Life” and more than 950 attendees showed their support at the Fort Worth Convention Center. Funds raised went for women’s health screenings, breast diagnostics and educational materials for the underserved of Tarrant County. While the Tarrant County community dined on a scrumptious lunch, they were treated to a runway fashion show where cancer survivors, children and fashion models donned the latest spring trends. During the three-minute challenge, Bradie James of the Dallas Cowboys spoke of how cancer has touched his life. When he was a sophomore in college his father died of liver disease, then his mother passed away three months later from breast cancer. Since that time he has launched Foundation 56 to honor his mother's memory.

Jane Doe Dinner
Underwriters, sponsors, and friends of Genesis Women’s Shelter gathered at the home of Jean Claude and Beth Saada the evening before the 16th Annual Genesis Women’s Shelter Mother’s Day Luncheon in honor of Her Majesty Queen Noor’s arrival in Dallas and to celebrate this year’s Jane Doe Award recipient. The 2009 Jane Doe Award commemorated the 15th Anniversary of the Violence Against Women Act, the first national solution to the national epidemic of violence against women. The Jane Doe Award recognizes extraordinary efforts made on behalf of women and children living with violence in their homes. The act was championed by Vice President Joseph R. Biden., who was invited to accept the award on behalf of VAWA. He was unable to attend, but in his place, Catherine Pierce, director of the Office on Violence Against Women in the US Department of Justice, attended and accepted the award.

Officer Recognized 101 Years Later
The Fort Worth Police Historical Association dedicated a marker March 21 at the grave of Louis Park Moore at Oakwood Cemetery in Fort Worth.
