Gloria Campos will serve as mistress of ceremonies at the Metroport Meals on Wheels fall fashion show and luncheon.
Metroport Meals on Wheels, an organization devoted to providing meals to shut-ins, has two major fundraisers scheduled this fall.
The 4th Annual Fall Fashion Show and Shopping Bazaar supporting MMOW is planned for Sept. 25 at the DFW Marriott Solana in Westlake. The shopping showcase, which will include specialty clothing, gift items, home accessories and holiday decor, will open at 9 a.m., with the fashion show slated for 11 a.m.
Community leaders will model fall fashions from Doncaster Private Collection, ETCetera, David Hunt Furs, Jos. A. Bank Clothiers and MMOW’s Sadie’s Consignment and Resale. For the second consecutive year, Gloria Campos, WFAA-TX news anchor, will commentate on the style show. The fundraiser also will include a luncheon and raffle. Individual tickets cost $100, and tables of 10 are priced at $750 and $1,000.
Then Classic Cafe, recently honored with an Award of Excellence from Wine Spectator magazine, will sponsor its annual Wine Benefit Dinner on Oct. 26. Chris and Curtis Wells, owners of the Roanoke establishment, have hosted for 14 years a gourmet dinner, typically a sell-out. Chef Charles Youts will create a menu which will include soup, salad, an entree and dessert, all paired with select wines. Tickets for the event are $125 per person.
MMOW, founded in 1980, delivers meals to shut-ins in northeast Tarrant, southern Denton and eastern Wise counties. Last year, more than 500 volunteers supplied more than 58,000 meals through either home-delivery or senior centers.
