Souper Bowl Fundraiser Set for February

At Empty Bowls, attendees will select their own unique bowl for a lunch of soup and dessert, benefitting Tarrant Area Food Bank.
Empty Bowls–An Artful Taste to End Hunger has been set for 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Feb. 18 at Amon G. Carter Exhibit Hall of Will Rogers Memorial Center.
The annual fundraiser again will benefit Tarrant Area Food Bank. At this lunchtime feast of artistic and culinary delights, guests savor soups and desserts prepared by Fort Worth area chefs. Attendees also select their own keepsakes from among 2,000 handcrafted and hand-painted bowls donated by professional, recreational and student artisans of north Texas. Live entertainment, a quilt raffle, silent auction and art demonstrations are also part of the event.
Among the organizations and studios whose members are donating bowls are the Texas Pottery & Sculpture Guild, The Wood Turners of North Texas, The Pottery Studio of Lockheed-Martin Recreation Association and Hart Street Pottery in Fort Worth. Restaurants, bakeries, caterers and culinary schools are contributing soups, breads and desserts.
Tickets will be sold only in advance for $40 per person or $125 per individual sponsor for early admission with corporate sponsors. Tickets may be purchased online at tafb.org, or by calling 817-332-9177, ext. 110.
All proceeds benefit Tarrant Area Food Bank and its network of 300 hunger-relief charities in 13 counties. Founded in 1982, the food bank is the primary source of donated food for 300 hunger-relief programs in Fort Worth and the surrounding counties of Tarrant, Denton, Johnson, Hood, Parker, Cooke, Bosque, Erath, Hamilton, Hill, Palo Pinto, Somervell and Wise. Each month, the network distributes groceries to 44,000 families and serves 565,000 meals and snacks on agency sites.
