Dallas Cowboy Boot Scootin’ for Special Olympics

Drew Pearson, a Dallas Cowboy super star, will appear at Steaks and Stetsons for Special Olympics.

Expect Dallas Cowboy legend Drew Pearson to trade cleats for cowboys boots as the special guest for Steaks and Stetsons, the annual fundraiser for Special Olympics Texas.

This year’s benefit for Special Olympics Texas – Greater Fort Worth area is set for Saturday at the Hyatt Regency DFW, located at DFW International Airport. Chairing the western-style event is State Rep. Vicki Truitt and her husband Jim Truitt of Southlake.

The non-profit organization serves more than 3,200 adults and children who participate in Special Olympics Texas competitions. All money raised during the “Texas chic” party will benefit training and competition for athletes in the Greater Fort Worth Area.

As the event name implies, steaks are on the dinner menu, and Stetsons are suggested attire for this night of boot-scooting, auctions and live entertainment.

Tickets? They’re $100 each or $1,500 for a table of 10.

Lunch Bags Raise Funds for Special Olympics

Designer handbags are planned as a special calorie-free “dessert” at The Special Olympics Texas Bag Ladies Luncheon, planned for 11:30 a.m. Friday at Rolling Hills Country Club, 401 Lamar Blvd. East, Arlington.

The event will feature a keynote address by recording artist Melissa Lawson, winner of “Nashville Star” and Arlington resident. Lunch will be followed by a designer handbag raffle as part of the fund-raising effort for Special Olympics.

Tables can be purchased for $600 and individual tickets are available for $50. Additional tickets for the purse drawing can be purchased for $25 each. For more information, please contact the Greater Fort Worth area office of Special Olympics at 817-332-3433.
