Twisted Up Over Dancing

Maksim Chmerkovsiy will dance in Dallas in July. Will he or won't he take his shirt off?

Maksim Chmerkovsiy will dance in Dallas in July. Will he or won’t he take his shirt off?

There are not many shows I watch faithfully. “Modern Family” is one, and “The Today Show” is another, although Savannah Guthrie is on my last nerve.

There’s one more: “Dancing With the Stars.”

So now I’m all kinds of excited that those masters of twinkling toes and dazzling costumes are coming to north Texas! Yes, two shows of “Ballroom with a Twist” are planned July 19 at the Music Hall at Fair Park. At both 2 and 7:30 p.m., you can expect to see professional dancers Maksim Chmerkovskiy, Karina Smirnoff, Tony Dovolani and Cheryl Burke.

Tickets are on sale at The Box Office, 5959 Royal Lane, in Dallas; 1-800-982-2787 or ticketmaster.com.

Fox trot or waltz? Cha cha or jive?

Oprah, Could We Say Bye a Little Longer?

Goodbye already, Lady O.

Put your crying towels away. The l-0-n-g (!) goodbye is finally over.

Lady O has ended her TV show after a run of some 98 years. Or something like that.

Oprah Winfrey’s show did enjoy a very long run, but good grief she’s been talking about it for way too long. The hype, the build-up, the hand-wringing, the tributes were enough for five people.

So much so that poor little Mary Hart ended her run on Entertainment Tonight, and it was hardly noticed when she walked off into the TV sunset on her $2-million legs (insured at a cool $1 mill a piece). Poor thang.

Then Meredith Viera bids us adieu after five years on The Today Show. Katie Couric ends her run after the same five years on CBS Evening News.

All these good-byes are wearing me slick. The tributes, the video highlights, the tear-eyed thank-yous.

Enough already. We love you, we love you, we love you. There. Done. Over and out.
